Great Reading, Off the Beaten Path.

My name is Michael Daswick. I love finding books that live far from the mainstream. So many never get their proper due. I also love to pass along enlightened tips on travel, food and restaurants, and tidbits of wisdom from lesser-known areas.

During the day, I’m a novelist in Arizona, where I write (and read). I have a degree in English from Columbia, where I won both of their splashy literary awards: The Bennett Cerf Memorial Prize for Fiction, and the Cornell Woolrich Fellowship in creative writing.

I’ve published 5 novels by PLAYA CHICA PRESS, plus a collection of inter-connected short stories. I write about the importance of the outsider; I use humor, humanity, plenty of twists and powerful (and unexpected) endings. I try to have a certain level of sophistication. I truly believe they’re all strong and entertaining stories and I’ve been blessed with flattering reviews. People find my work on all the platforms and my website is www.MichaelDaswick.com

In my free time, I write this letter. It started in 2019 when people started asking for book recommendations and insight into my work. In the subsequent months, my Followers have grown to an audience of over 4,000 people in over 40 countries. At the end of the day, I post items about books, writers and writing, little-known facts of literature, historical points of interest, and other nuggets I’ve found to be more than worthwhile, usually not well known, Off The Beaten Path, and well worth your time. Some may be old classics.
